Before silk, before cotton, before the refinements of any civilisation, there was the woven plant fibre in the particular warm ivory that undyed natural thread produces. It is ivory as origin — the colour before colour was a choice, the warmth that is simply the natural state of the material before anyone has decided what it should become. The Chanvre is the most grounded of the COOQ ivory nets — an ivory of depth and naturalness, distinct from the sea-foam lightness of The Écume and the precise calibration of the other ivory pieces. Where The Écume hovered and The Albâtre calculated, The Chanvre simply is. A mesh of warm, natural ivory thread on skin that feels as though it was always going to look exactly this way — as though the decision to make this garment was made ten thousand years ago and only now completed.
